Pegging is a sexual act in which a woman penetrates the anus of a sexual partner with a strap-on dildo, a strap-on dildo, or a vibrator.

Etymology

The word originated in 2001 through a contest organized by American sex advice columnist Dan Savage in his column 'Savage Love' for the Seattle-based underground magazine 'The Stranger', after his readers had noticed that there was no common name for the practice.[1] According to Dan Savage, the need for a name became clear from the large number of letters from readers he received about this issue. These contributors were engaged in the sexual act in question, or were curious about it and wondered, for example, whether practicing this practice would call their alleged orientation into question.
